Allure of clinics offering dubious stem cell treatments

SCI survivors are always on the lookout for promising therapies taking place all over the world that can help cure paralysis. Taking advantage of all the buzz surrounding stem cell therapy that's been generated during the past 10-15 years, many so-called clinics have also set up shop with the sole aim of swindling individuals with unproven promises of such therapy. A recent blog post from the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine caught our attention as it described an episode of TV's Dr. Oz as he took on such clinics. It became a reminder to everyone to approach such claims made by any clinic, whether in the U.S. or outside, with a great deal of caution and scrutiny.
