United Spinal Association debuts Peer Mentor Training Program in California

United Spinal Association held its first-ever California Peer Mentor Training in Sacramento last weekend.

Everyday Abilities Foundation San Francisco Bay Area Chapter

Sacramento Spinal Foundation Chapter of the United Spinal Association

SCI Active Network Solano County CA Chapter

To date, 19 Chapters nationwide have participated and over 260 mentors have been trained and that number continues to grow.

Lindsey Elliott, United Spinal Director of Member Initiatives led the training. The participants spend a full day at the Ramada Hotel in Sacramento in order to qualify as a United Spinal Peer Mentor. The training included a number of units describing among other things, the benefits of mentoring, the do's and dont's of peer mentoring, how to effectively engage with peers as well as some embarrassingly enjoyable role playing exercises.
