Once you’ve left the hospital and the safety and expertise of the rehab Physical Therapists, it can be a daunting task figuring out how you continue to get the therapy you need. We’ve put together a list below of organizations which should help with that decision, some paying and some which take insurance.

Another great one to watch is this online Exercise Video from Kaiser Vallejo Rehab Center designed specifically for patients with spinal cord injuries and presented by an adaptive sports consultant

Orion Physical Therapy. A for profit organization owned and run by Kyle Smith who provides neurological rehabilitation Physical Therapy in the patients home in the South Bay and the Peninsula

Neurorestorative. A for profit subacute care facility located in most states offers rehabilitation for traumatic injuries and progressive diseases

Raye Kahn Movement is a Berkeley-based studio, run by movement teacher Raye Kahn who has been teaching since 2008 for bodies of all abilities. They specialize in working with people who have neurological conditions including (but not limited to) spinal cord injuries, Multiple Sclerosis, Cerebral Palsy, and strokes

Zebrafish Neuro facilitates movement discovery and lasting neurological change through education for SCI athletes and movement professionals. Pilates teacher, Stephanie Comella, employs an approach that seeks to improve movement efficiency and connection through good alignment, self-supported movements and immediately applicable challenges. A for profit organization, SCI-FIT (Spinal Cord Injury Functional Integrated Therapy) provides exercised based therapy at three locations in Dublin, Sacramento and Fresno.  It was founded by a person who suffered a spinal cord injury.

Rehab Without Walls. A for profit organization founded over 25 years ago as an alternative to traditional neurological rehabilitation programs and strive to provide this service in the patients home surroundings

Forma Gym/Rise Paralysis Recovery Center is a for-profit organization with a location in Walnut Creek providing exercised-based therapy programs

The Timpany Center is a non-profit therapeutic facility operated by San Jose State University's Department of Kinesiology from the College of Applied Sciences and Arts in conjunction with the County of Santa Clara. They offer specialized services within a warm water pool, spa and an adapted exercise equipment facility. Both the pool and spa have accessible ramps and small steps. Wheelchairs and walkers are available to use for easy pool and spa entry and transfer.

The YMCA in The Embarcadero, San Francisco offers exercise made for people with disabilities. Individuals may begin the program at anytime. Monthly program enrollment includes personalized workouts with coaching on specific days of the week.

PhysFit Health & Wellness Center at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) provides individual and group programs. One-on-one care is provided by licensed physical therapists and is available to clients of all ages. Programs are run by UCSF physical therapists to improve strength, endurance, balance, flexibility, posture, mental acuity, coordination and function. The Center is a fee for service practice and does not contract with any insurance companies. Clients may request documentation to submit to their insurance companies independently for potential reimbursement.

The Rose Center in Redding is a private locally-owned outpatient physical therapy facility that specializes in many unique, exceptional and distinctive treatment options. With a 3,400 sq. ft. fully wheelchair accessible treatment area, The Rose Center offers specialized treatment of spinal cord injury and other neurological conditions.
