NorCal SCI is thrilled to announce the formation of its Advisory Board and the appointments of Dr. Reza Ehsanian and Dr. Lisa Knowlton as the first members.
We've known both doctors for sometime now and they're both exceptionally and uniquely qualified to help us set the proper course for our future endeavors especially as we begin tackling areas where medical research and expertise is critical and required.
Dr. Ehsanian is a physician-scientist whose academic interests include the translation of basic science to clinical practice to ultimately improve outcomes for individuals with SCI, TBI and chronic pain.
Dr. Ehsanian completed his Howard Hughes Medical Fellowship at National Institutes of Health where he developed his research interest in translational medicine. He completed his MD training at Stanford School of Medicine and his PhD training at Oxford University, Christ Church College. Currently, Dr. Ehsanian is a Resident in the PM&R Division, Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Stanford University and a Post-Doctoral Fellow in the Department of Neurosurgery, Stanford University.
Dr. Knowlton is a trauma and critical care surgeon and public health researcher whose focus is on improving access to and quality of care for trauma patients, including those suffering from traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries. She obtained her medical degree at McGill University and completed her surgical residency at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada.
Her desire to understand varied healthcare systems and develop solutions for vulnerable surgical populations led her to obtain an M.P.H. at the Harvard School of Public Health and complete a research fellowship at the Harvard Humanitarian Initiative.
Most recently, she trained as a Surgical Critical Care fellow at Stanford University Medical Center and will be joining their Trauma and Critical Care faculty in 2018. Dr. Knowlton is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
The NorCal SCI team is honored to welcome these two individuals to our organization and look forward to their contributions in the coming years.
