NorCal SCI visits Dominican Rehab in Santa Cruz

As part of our continued outreach to the Northern California Rehab Centers, NorCal SCI co-founder Nick Struthers visited Dominican Rehabilitation Services in Santa Cruz this past week.

"This would be my third visit to Dominican and my host Roger McKowan.  On my first two visits, I met with The Life on Wheels SCI Group," writes Nick.

For this visit, Roger who is part of the Mobility Program at Dominican, had organized the opportunity for me to present to the therapists and nursing staff who interface with their SCI patients.

Dominican Rehabilitation Services predominantly sees outpatients from the SCI community in Santa Cruz and occasionally have inpatients who go through their acute rehab at the facility.

Roger had done a great job coordinating the meeting as I was happy to see so many therapists and medical staff join us in the spacious conference room. I was able to sign up almost all the staff in attendance to our Newsletter which will be a great way for them to stay abreast of SCI-related news and events.

None of the staff had previously heard about NorCal SCI, so I jumped at the opportunity to let them know about the SCI landscape in Northern California as well as NorCal SCI's ambitious programs for 2018.

I have to thank Roger and the staff there for showing genuine interest and support for what we are doing at NorCal SCI and we look forward to doing anything we can to support the SCI Community in the Santa Cruz area.
