For those air travelers using a wheelchair or scooter, nothing is as terrifying as reaching your final destination, waiting for your wheelchair or scooter, only to be told it was lost or damaged in transit. How are you going to get around? Until recently, we all had our individual stories to share but thanks to the FAA Reauthorization Act of 2018, all domestically-operated airlines are now required to report such incidents (provided a claim has been filed by each affected passenger).

During the Dec. 2018-Feb. 2019 period, airlines reported damaging or losing 1,975 wheelchairs or scooters with American Airlines and Southwest leading the list of worst offenders. You can read more about this in NEW MOBILITY.
