Long-time wheelchair user shares strategies to avoid pressure injuries

A wheelchair user since 1985, Placer County’s Bob Vogel is an adventurer at heart and has written about experiences ranging from scuba diving to hang gliding. Given his 34+ years of sitting more than he’s not, courtesy of a T10 Complete SCI, he’s also amassed a good deal of experience in dealing with secondary conditions of a spinal cord injury, including pressure sores or, as they are also referred as, pressure injuries.

In a recent column for New Mobility magazine, Bob responded to a question posed by a reader about this dreaded topic which we thought was worth sharing HERE.

Of course, we always like to share the great resources that the Reeve Foundation offers and they have a good ARTICLE on this topic which they refer to as Pressure Ulcers. So, call it whatever you want. If you have it, we’re pretty sure that it’s not fun but hopefully these resources can help you deal with them more effectively.
