A booming economy has translated into many job openings not only in the private sector but also the public sector and you can consider the State of California as the employer with the most number of job openings — currently at over 3,600. The State has made a big push to create more employment opportunities for persons with disabilities and its website has a specific section for such individuals.

Here’s a great example. The California Highway Patrol has dozens of openings at the moment. No, not the kind that would get you into a CHP cruiser but rather in-office openings such as a Public Safety Dispatcher that pays between $4,308-$5,993 per month, plus all the benefits of being a state employee. They’ve made the requirements for such jobs highly attainable and are desperately seeking qualified candidates with disabilities to apply. You can learn more about the current CHP openings HERE.

A major concern those with disabilities have involves the loss of their benefits due to their disability. They can help you make informed decisions that would best protect the safety net programs you depend on while becoming employed. You can check out the State’s website for careers for persons with disabilities HERE.
