Design the Future is a 6-day, fully immersive design thinking summer program that partners teams of high school students with an individual living with a physical disability. Over the course of the program, students learn about disability and are taught to design solutions to real problems faced by their Project Partner. And as they gear up for another exciting year of Design the Future, they wanted you to know about some available paid & volunteer positions and opportunities to stay engaged with the program held June 15-20 and June 22-27, 2020 at Stanford University.

Application Review Team (PT, Temporary, Volunteer)
This group will help facilitate a timely, smooth application review process for students applying to the program. Application Review Team members will receive email notifications when an application has been assigned for them to review. They will need to review applications approximately 1-2 times a week and should expect a time commitment of approximately 3-5 hours/wk. The bulk of applications tend to come in between March-May, so that is when the majority of hours would occur - the time commitment would likely be less during January, February and June-July. All program alums of any capacity (Students/Parents, Coaches, Project Partners and Lead Facilitators) are welcome to participate in the Application Review Team.

Jr. Program Ambassadors (PT, Temporary, Volunteer)
Jr. Program Ambassadors are Design the Future student alums who are still in high school and are interested in building awareness about Design the Future at their school. This may be by posting flyers, presenting at your school career/activity fair, hosting an information session, or assisting the Program Ambassador with additional outreach as able.

Program Ambassadors  (PT, Temporary, Paid)
They are hiring local program ambassadors to assist with creating program awareness and recruiting students, Project Partners and Coaches in each program location. Program Ambassadors will need to be outgoing, organized program alums (of any capacity) who are familiar with the program, and are comfortable giving presentations, answering questions and conducting outreach and engagement activities.

Coach Liaison (PT, Temporary, Paid)
The Coach Liaison will play an integral role in recruiting, selecting and on-boarding design coaches for all program locations.

Design Coaches (Temporary, Paid)
Design coaches play a foundational role in ensuring a positive program experience for students and project partners. If you have been a previous coach, or are a former student participant who is now in college (2nd year or higher preferred), they’d love to have you apply for a Design Coach position!

Project Partners (Temporary, Paid)
If you've previously served as a Project Partner, they would love to have you back! If you know of an individual with a physical disability who might be a good fit for a project partner role, feel free to forward the email and job description and get them in touch with the project.

Lead Facilitators (Temporary, Paid)
The Lead Facilitators serve as lead staff and work closely with the Program Coordinator to ensure smooth execution of each program session. Each program session is run by a Design Lead Facilitator and a Tech Lead Facilitator. Lead Facilitators are typically local high school teachers or university professors who are experienced in Design Thinking, STEM or Engineering fields. Other design and engineering professionals who have experience with facilitation and working with teens are also encouraged to apply.
