NorCal SCI's Virtual SCI Clinic completes successful consultation of 7 persons with SCI

We continue to find more silver linings in dealing with the consequences of COVID-19 and one of those involved the second Virtual SCI Clinic we held on Fri., Oct. 23rd that allowed seven persons with spinal cord injuries address particular medical or physical challenges they were experiencing with our four highly-experienced clinical professionals. The seven individuals lived from as far south as San Luis Obispo to as far north as Lakeport, accomplishing our goal of delivering the expertise of our clinical volunteers to areas without reasonable access to SCI medical professionals.

We are grateful to our volunteer consultation team of Nurse Practitioner Rebecca Hummel-Moore, Occupational Therapist Carole Adler-Hughes, Registered Dietitian Nutritionist Shelley Wood, and Physical Therapist Kyle Smith who have unique and lengthy experiences in Spinal Cord Injury medicine.

When we get feedback like “what a wonderful service this is” or “this is great, thank you so much”, we know the need for access to experienced SCI clinical professionals is great and we hope to serve more people in 2021.
