San Jose Parks & Recreation Dept. offers slew of adapted activities

The City of San Jose’s Parks & Recreation Dept. is one of the few leading organizations of its kind when it comes to offering adapted recreational programs and this winter, they’re once again taking the lead role by offering a wide array of programs such as adapted bowling, fitness, martial arts, power soccer, wheelchair basketball, as well as offering a junior wheelchair sports program, Wheels on Fire, designed for those between ages of 5-22.

All the programs tend to provide the equipment needed for participation, so you don’t need to incur added expense. While the programs charge a nominal participation fee, the city also offers scholarships for those individuals who are residents of the city and are receiving governmental assistance and benefits. You can apply for these scholarships HERE.
