Clemson University has developed a 12-month program, “Tutor, Talk and Train”, a multitiered and engaging virtual program designed exclusively for veterans with paralysis and intended to decrease the effects of social isolation while promoting mental and physical health. The virtual program is free to those selected and seeks to cultivate community, wellness and opportunities for volunteering among Individuals with paralysis and their caregivers in 7 different ways in addition to a program bonus. They include:

  1. Elementary School Tutoring

  2. Adaptive Yoga

  3. Adaptive Fitness/Movement Training

  4. Adaptive Sport

  5. Book/Movie Club

  6. Virtual Dinner

  7. Mental Health First Aid (MHFA)

Program Bonus: At the end of the 12-month program, participants will receive support for next steps and help them prepare for the transition away from the program with the objective of assisting their full integration into their local community by building on the skills and interests they discovered and developed throughout the program.

This initiative is funded and supported by a grant from the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation. If you or someone you know is interested or would like more information, please contact Dr. Skye Arthur-Banning: sarthur@clemson.edu or by phone at (717) 454-7552.
