CIL and FTC team up for Nov. 10 webinar on “COVID-19 and scams targeting disability community”

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and Berkeley’s Center for Independent Living (CIL) are partnering to host an informative free webinar on Wed., Nov. 10th at 10 a.m. PST about scams that affect our communities today. Since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, there have been an increased number of Covid-19 related scams targeting the disability and senior communities by disguising themselves as fake Covid-19 treatments and associated products. Other scams pretend to be organizations like the World Health Organization, sending targeted emails with viruses and harmful software. You can register for this free webinar HERE.

The FTC will explain how to avoid related scams and what you should do if it happens to you. Viewers are encouraged to ask questions and engage with the hosts at the end of the webinar.
