CIL to host "finding affordable, accessible housing in the Bay Area" webinar on Feb. 11

Are you struggling to find an apartment or a home that’s accessible? Do you think you might qualify for Section 8 but aren’t sure how to navigate the bureaucracy? Do you want to own a home but feel that, in the Bay Area, it’s just out of reach? Those are just a few topics that would be addressed at Berkeley’s Center for Independent Living’s webinar on Thurs., Feb. 11th at 10 a.m. which you may register for HERE.

The webinar will include a panel of three individuals with unique experiences and expertise. Teela Carpenter is the Assistant Director of the Oakland Housing Authority’s Leased Housing department, and has some important info about the Mainstream Voucher program, which can get low-income folks with disabilities into a home on the cheap. Stephen Beard is a realtor and accessibility specialist with a knack for finding folks housing that suits their needs, and taking advantage of special programs for people with disabilities and first-time homeowners. Janet Brown is a housing consultant here at TheCIL, and provides our consumers with the resources and skills they need to find adequate housing.
