Depending on your disability, you may qualify for PG&E’s Medical Baseline Program

It continues to amaze us how many persons with disabilities may not be aware of the popular Medical Baseline Program offered by PG&E. Residential customers enrolled can receive an additional allotment of energy every month at the lowest price available on their rate, also referred to as the Baseline Allowance. In the Medical Baseline Program, the additional allotment of energy is approximately 500 kilowatt-hours (kwh) of electricity and/or 25 therms of gas per month depending on the customer’s energy needs as verified by a medical practitioner during certification.

For example, many persons with a spinal cord injury tend to experience hyper-sensitivity to heat or cold which causes them to use more energy to help alleviate those symptoms. To qualify for this program, you must be a full-time resident in your home and have a qualifying medical condition and/or require use of a qualifying medical device to treat ongoing medical conditions.
