University of Washington seeking those with SCI to study effectiveness of a test for thinking skills

STUDY.png

The University of Washington is seeking individuals with a spinal cord injury to participate in a research study investigating the effectiveness of a screening test for thinking skills in the SCI population. This study seeks to test a new cognitive screening exam which is a shorter version than the testing that is currently used. The hopes are that this will be a more accessible exam for healthcare professionals to administer after someone has SCI and would be used to help determine if someone needs to see a specialist regarding any cognitive issues. Study participants will be compensated $75 for their time and participation.

The study is currently offered online via Zoom. If eligible, they will schedule this visit for a safe and convenient time for you. This visit should take about 3 hours, with breaks if needed. You may be eligible to participate if you:

  • You are at least 1 year post injury

  • You are between the ages of 18-64

  • You have a diagnosis of Spinal Cord Injury (SCI)

  • You can read and speak English fluently.

  • Have access to Zoom on a screen at least 11 inches (a regular iPad or bigger).

If you wish to participate in this study, please send email to scicog@uw.edu
