NorCal SCI welcomes Silicon Valley Asset Management veteran with SCI to its Board of Directors

We met Pravin Vazirani about a year ago at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center where he was recovering following a spinal cord injury he experienced in Christmas of 2020 while vacationing at a beach in Hawaii with his family when a wave lifted him up and slammed him into the sand, resulting in an incomplete cervical injury. During his worst days, he was a positive person working to lift hope for other patients going through their rehab stints and we knew that he had all the qualities of a person we’d want to join our Board of Directors and fortunate enough that he accepted our invitation last month.

"As someone who has experienced a spinal cord injury, I know firsthand how challenging this kind of injury can be in someone’s life … physically, mentally, emotionally, and financially. After learning about the work NorCal SCI was doing to improve the lives of people traumatized by an event like this, I knew I had to get involved and do what I could to make a difference."

Through a lot of hard work and hours of therapy once he got home, Pravin has been able to recover the vast majority of his function and even participated in a marathon with his family.

Pravin is currently a Managing Director and Co-Head of Technology Investing at asset management firm Blue Owl Capital. Previously, he was a Managing Director at Menlo Ventures, a venture capital firm based in Menlo Park, CA. Pravin holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in electrical engineering from MIT and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He has been a Bay Area resident for over 20 years and currently lives in Menlo Park with his wife and two children.

Welcome to our team, Pravin.
