ABLE Account Age Limit Changes
Good news for SSI recipients who have wished they could have an ABLE account but don’t meet the eligibility requirement of having to have been disabled before the age of 26. Starting in 2026, the age limit requirement for onset of disability will be raised to 46.
For those who may not know, an ABLE account is an account where you can save money that will not be counted as a resource by SSI. If you’re on SSI and have ever felt constrained by the $2,000 resource limit, an ABLE account may help.
