Accessible Futures Conference June 16-17th: All residents with disabilities are welcome
The Bay Area Disability Community and the Bay Area Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) are organizing the First Annual Accessible Futures Conference on June 16th and 17th at the San Francisco MTC/ABAG building.
This "listening conference" will be an opportunity for people with disabilities to have the stage and talk about what is and isn't working in their lives. There will be space for about 150-200 people to physically attend, but there will also be access to live Zoom, so folks from across the country can "be there", too. And, a number of local, state, and national elected and appointed folks will be invited to the event to "listen" to the community.
During the event, there will be break-out rooms for each subject. In each room there will be professional note takers, Sign Language interpreters, captioning, and attendants available to help anyone with bathroom or eating support.
Breakfast and lunch will be provided to everyone at no cost to participants. Itβs FREE to attend but you must register HERE
For questions, contact: DisabilityRightsFuture@gmail.com
At the end of the event, a report will be created and made available nationally at no cost to anyone wanting a copy. The report will describe all of the experiential issues raised by the disability community, hopefully used to create the necessary policy and program changes that touch the lives of the disability community.
This is a great opportunity for anyone in the disability community to have a say in and influence future outcomes for accessibility.
