Comedy for a Spinal Cause Hosts 11th Edition - Raises $3200 for NorCal SCI

CFASC Co-organizers Arash Bayatmakou and David Nihill

On September 6th, over 100 people attended a sold out comedy show at The Sound Room in Oakland. It was the 11th edition of Comedy for a Spinal Cause (CFASC), a Bay Area charity comedy show whose proceeds benefit the Northern California SCI community.

The event was organized by comedian, speaker, and author David Nihill and NorCal SCI's Executive Director Arash Bayatmakou. Nihill, who has been touring internationally and recently published his first comedy special, secured all the comedians, who donated their time and skills to a night full of laughs and a great cause.

For the second consecutive year, the Sound Room was kind enough to donate their incredible, extremely ADA-compliant space and many repeat guests said it was the best venue yet for CFASC. As always, Nihill emceed the event, got the crowd roaring with laughter, and passed it on to the comedians: Marcus Williams, Gina Stahl-Haven, Brooke Heinichen, Bryant Hicks, Jesse Fernandez, and Josef Anolin.

Thanks to all the guests who showed their support of our cause – including the number of wheelchair users who attended – the evening raised $3,200 which will go toward funding the many programs we have committed to delivering for the SCI community in Northern California in 2023 and beyond.
