New Virtual Support Group for Men with SCI Coming in September

One of NorCal SCI’s community members, Armando, is starting a virtual support group specifically for men with SCIs. He’s written the below message and intro and invites any and all men with SCIs to join.

I'm starting a men's SCI support group. Any man with a spinal cord injury can attend. It will be an open space to talk about anything related to SCI. Some of the topics that will be open for discussion are relationships, bowel and bladder, recovery, traveling, working, depression. As men it is hard to find outlets to talk about things. Having SCI just adds stress to that with everything that comes with it. I'm just trying to give us a safe space where we can have conversations about life with with SCI.

I'm Armando Rodriguez, I’m from Union City. Im 44 and have been in a chair for 18 soon to be 19 years. I was involved in a solo car accident that left me paralyzed. Im a T9 complete. I am a single father of 2 adult children. I enjoy playing wheelchair basketball, kayaking, shooting pool, and going to the gym to stay active.I started a D3 wheelchair basketball team called the Borp Bay Area Ballerz. Huge sports fan and love to travel.

The first meeting will take place on Zoom Wednesday, September 24th at 530pm.
