SCI-FIT Dublin Adds Physical Therapy to its Robust Services

SCI-FIT, which has helped countless people since 2007 with a variety of neurological conditions, has expanded to include physical therapy services. Their newest team member, Bobby Huntington, uses a similar functional, hands-on approach that targets high intensity and high repetition through weight bearing, body weight support treadmill training and electrical stimulation. Currently, in the activity-based rehab world, there tends to be two separate rehab options, physical therapists and neurological trainers/exercise specialists. Bobby and the team at SCI-FIT hope to change that. Their goal is to combine the best attributes of physical therapy and personal training to maximize a client's recovery potential, increase access to care and help extend the continuum of care through their insurance-cash based hybrid model.

Bobby joined SCI-FIT Dublin in April 2023 after meeting Mike Terrell (co-owner of SCI-FIT) at an electrical stimulation conference last year. They quickly realized they could combine their passion for activity-based rehab and create a valuable opportunity for the spinal cord injury community.

Before taking the leap to move to California, Bobby worked as a physical therapist for 3 years at an activity-based rehabilitation center (TRYability) in the suburbs of Chicago, where he saw a wide variety of neurological conditions, including SCI, multiple sclerosis, parkinson's disease, cerebral palsy and pediatrics. Bobby has a non-traditional approach to physical therapy interventions, where he focuses on recovery below the level of injury or of the affected side. He utilizes novel approaches and current research in his treatment sessions to maximize central nervous system excitation and neurological recovery. He is well versed in various modes of electrical stimulation, whole body vibration and locomotor training. Bobby enjoys challenging his clients and pushing them to do something new and creative each time they are in the clinic.
