Dr. H’Sien Hayward – who lives with a SCI herself – will host the upcoming webinar on May 7th

There is no doubt that mental and physical health are directly linked. Yet, we know that following their spinal cord injuries, many people do not prioritize their mental health and that this can have devastating impacts in their short and long-term rehabilitation prospects and general health.

NorCal SCI is proud to host our first ever webinar addressing mental health following spinal cord injury.

Join Dr. H'Sien Hayward, psychologist and spinal cord injured wheelchair user, and Northern California resident, as she addresses SCI and mental health. She will share common challenges and effective treatment options. Dr. Hayward will also teach some basic psychological tools and strategies that can be used to improve anyone's mental health. Q&A and discussion to follow.

H'Sien received her PhD from Harvard University, completed a postdoctoral respecialization at the California School for Professional Psychology - San Francisco, spent several years training at VA Medical Centers and Kaiser Permanente, and did her postdoctoral fellowship at Stanford University Medical Center.

At Harvard, her award-winning and widely published doctoral research focused on the science of happiness and post-traumatic growth, which informs her clinical practice today.
