Stay up to date with adaptive sports with the BORP calendar

NorCal SCI is proud of our collaboration with other organizations supporting the SCI community and because there are many needs for which we don’t have the resources or expertise, we refer people to our friends and partners.

One of these is BORP and if you don’t already know, BORP specializes in adaptive sports of all kinds and serves the needs of many types of disability, not just SCI.

Based in Berkeley and with programs throughout the Bay Area and beyond, BORP is a vital resource for anyone wanting to try a variety of adaptive sports. In addition to wheelchair rugby and basketball, which many might be familiar with, they also have sports like Goalball, Sled Hockey, Power Soccer, Pickleball and Kayaking.

They are well known for their one-of-a-kind cycling center in Berkeley which allows people with any type of mobility impairment to be fitted to a suitable adaptive bike and go for a ride.

On top of all that, they offer a variety of fitness classes, most of which are held virtually, and available to anyone to join from the comfort of their home. We know how important movement and exercise is for anyone with a SCI at any stage of their post injury life so having a resource like theirs for consistent exercise is essential, and we’re grateful to them for their programs.

We will have a link to BORP’s monthly calendar of events right here in our newsletter moving forward so make sure you check it out and take part in one of their programs!
