Newly Injured Resource Kit Recommended Resources

With so much information out there, NorCal SCI understands who difficult it can be to find the appropriate information to help navigate the challenging situation. The links here are not exhaustive by any means and along with our own resource list, we believe this is a good place to start.

Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation (CDRF)

This is arguably the most comprehensive resource for the "quality of life" aspect of paralysis. We previously provided much of their printed material in our Care Package which can now be requested free of charge on their website.

CDRF are a free, comprehensive, national source of informational support for people living with paralysis and their caregivers.

Although the publication, Don’t call it a Miracle is over 10 years old now, the contents are still relevant today. This is a must read book as it explains in language the non medical person can understand how a trauma to the spinal cord can result in permanent paralysis and just as importantly what are the research challenges in discovering a medical treatment for paralysis. Don’t Call it a Miralce is not downloadable so click HERE to order your free copy.

Model Systems Knowledge Translation Center (MSKTC)

MSTKC provides a multiple clinical and educational resources on all aspects of SCI. If you want evidence-based data, this is the best source. They translate complex medical research into plain language.
