Navigating Health Insurance: Presented by the Reeve Foundation
Navigating the complexities of health insurance—especially within Medicare—can feel overwhelming, but securing the equipment you need shouldn't have to be a battle. An educational, product-neutral webinar was held to demystify the health insurance appeals process, with a specific focus on obtaining Durable Medical Equipment (DME) and essential urological supplies. The session brought together an expert panel moderated by health equity advocate Ali Ingersoll, featuring clinical insights from Dr. Kristy M. Borawski (Professor of Urology at UNC) alongside experienced advocates Sheri Denkensohn and Matt Castelluccio.
Hosted in partnership with the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation and United Spinal Association, and sponsored by Becton Dickinson, this session provided practical, real-world strategies to help individuals and caregivers advocate for their care. The panel introduced the CareKey Patient Advocacy Toolkit, a hands-on resource designed to clarify complex insurance frameworks and strengthen self-advocacy skills. Even though the live presentation has wrapped, you can still access all of these valuable insights and the toolkit.
