Americans for Cures Introduction

Americans for Cures is a California non-profit that is organizing to make sure stem cell research continues to be supported in our state. You may know that Californians passed Proposition 71 in 2004, which authorized $3 billion for stem cell research.  In the last decade, California has invested billions to move medicine forward.  Spinal cord injury became the first condition targeted in a human clinical trial using stem cells. California must continue to publicly fund stem cell research.  That's why Americans for Cures is organizing now in the patient advocate community to build support for stem cell research, and report back to the public on the great work that has been accomplished. A very important part of their work is building up patient advocates to become great organizers.  They have held Ambassador trainings across the state and on April 29th, one will be held in Sacramento.  At the training, new Ambassadors will learn more about their work, get the opportunity to meet other patient advocates and stem cell scientists, and learn practical skills in public speaking and issue organizing.  As this is an extremely important campaign, they’re recruiting interested folks who would like to get involved to continue the fight for cures.

The Americans for Cures' Ambassador Training will take place at the Institute for Regenerative Cures building in Sacramento from 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. on April 29th. Attendance is free and meals will be provided.
