AXIS Dance Company presents two August performances
Oakland-based AXIS Dance Company, a nationally-recognized organization that champions disabled and non-disabled dance performers, will hold two free dance performances in Oakland on Aug. 9 and 12.
The August 9th event, AXIS Summer Intensive Free Site Specific Performance, is from 3 to 5 p.m. at Lake Merritt (starting beside Lake Chalet) and dancers and students from their Summer Intensive 'Improvisation & Site Specific' Module showcase their talents in this free performance. This event is the culmination of three days of hard work from their Summer Intensive students learning how we can effect time and space through the choices we make as performers and the influences around us.
The August 12th event, AXIS Summer Intensive Free Choreography Performance, is also from 3-5 p.m. but held at the Malonga Casquelourd Center for the Arts, 1428 Alice St, Oakland. In this performance, the students developed their own choreographic interests and investigated their own practice through the guidance of AXIS' Artistic Director & Company Dancers.
