The comeback of Lane Edwards continues with Fuel The Fire on Oct. 7

NorCal SCI co-founder, Franklin, met Lane Edwards at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center in summer of 2014 following a diving accident in Thailand that left Lane paralyzed with a devastating C-4 injury.

Lane's story is like stories of many young men who are robbed of their physical abilities at a young age doing something they had done countless times. An aspiring and adventurous young man, he was having the time of his life traveling through several Asian countries until that fateful day in April of 2014 when diving off a boat, he landed in a shallow area and suffered his injury.

Lane was a reminder of myself having suffered a C-6 injury diving at a beach at the age of 24.  I remember the twinkle in his eyes as he struggled to breathe.  He was well-spoken, kind and optimistic with his words.  He wasn't in rehab for very long and soon departed to Sacramento where he was from.  We would talk periodically but I (unfortunately) lost touch with him until about a year ago when I briefly saw him at the Abilities Expo.

But this story has a great yet-to-be-written ending.  I say that because his journey back continues.  My partner, Nick, forwarded an e-mail about a fundraising event Lane will be having on Sat., Oct. 7 in Sacramento.  What you need to know is the amazing recovery Lane has experienced in 3 1/2 years since his injury.  It took a lot of guts and desire to put everything else in his life on hold and pursue his non-stop goal of getting better.  It was non-stop therapies of all kinds.  You can read more about Lane's journey and how you can take part in his fundraising event, Fuel The Fire, by going to his web site Loving Lane.  His story is truly one of "where there's a will, there's a way" and we couldn't be prouder of Lane.
