Ian Mackay addressed a packed dining room on the SCI Floor of the Sobrato Pavilion at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center on Fri., Nov. 2nd and NorCal SCI co-founder, Nick Struthers, who had met Ian for the first time at the Abilities Expo on Oct. 29th, was there to watch Ian’s presentation.

“In attendance were medical staff from all departments and a number of former patients keen to find out what Ian had to say and he did not disappoint,” says Nick. Ian not only gave an informative presentation on his “Smart” Home but really connected with the individuals there facing similar challenges to Ian’s.

In his candid address, Ian discussed his journey after his C2 complete injury 10 years ago and from being in a very dark place where he questioned his own purpose in life to the realization that he had a choice to live a great life by embracing his beautiful surroundings and riding the trails as often as he can, in fact every day for more than two years and counting.

Find out more about Ian in the latest article in October’s New Mobility Magazine.

NorCal SCI is now fortunate to call Ian a friend and we are looking forward to working with him to better serve our community particularly with the many opportunities adaptive technologies can present.
