Free adapted paddling program at Cal Poly May 12-13

The May 12-13 Adapted Paddling Program at Cal Poly State University in San Luis Obispo, run by students in the Adapted Physical Activity course and instructors from San Luis Obispo County, is seeking participants with disabilities who'd like to enjoy the experience of paddling an adapted kayake both in an indoor pool and outside in Morro Bay.

The program is designed with a lesson to compensate for loss of function in a controlled indoor pool setting. It is followed with an adventure out on Morro Bay to observe wildlife and experience the unique estuarine environment.  The equipment is adapted to accommodate the needs of each individual participant.

Participants will meet their student assistant instructors, participate in a pool training session, and a potluck at Cal Poly on Sat., May 12th.  The following day, Sun., May 13th, will be the official day out with the team in Morro Bay.  Each day will run from the morning until about 2-3 in the afternoon.  More details regarding the schedule will be given after registration.

Space is limited, so to register for this free event, contact Lupita Gonzalez at (510) 963-1990 or by e-mail at mgonz220@calpoly.edu.
