Emergency Preparedness workshop to be held in Menlo Park on June 18
San Mateo-based Center for Independence of Individuals with Disabilities is hosting an Emergency Preparedness event on Mon., June 18th from 1:30-4:30 p.m. to demonstrate how to prepare for a natural disaster or emergency in your community.
People tend to put off these types of events but if you're a wheelchair user in particular, it's more important that you know how to protect yourself in the event of a major event (think earthquake for example), especially if you are by yourself and don't have anyone else to assist you in such emergency.
The event will feature local first responders who will demonstrate techniques to keep yourself safe. Light refreshments, a raffle for a 3-day emergency kit and goodie bags for the first 100 attendees will also be handed. It will be held at the Little House Activity Center, 800 Middle Ave., Menlo Park.
To attend, RSVP by e-mail at CIDEmergencyPrep@gmail.com or (650) 645-1780, ext 115 if you need any accommodations for disability or language for the event.
