We continue with our efforts to reach out to all the major spinal cord injury rehab centers and conduct in-service presentations to their staff so that they become more knowledgeable about the various ways we can help support them and individuals with spinal cord injuries, whether new or past patients. Our next stop took us to Oakland’s Alta Bates Summit Medical Center which is part of the Sutter Hospitals and houses the Acute SCI Rehab facility. NorCal SCI co-founder, Nick Struthers, was joined by Board Director, Arash Bayatmakou, and conducted a sessions to attended by almost 40 therapists.

We get the greatest satisfaction from sharing with rehab staffs all the resources, services and programs that we offer in support of those with SCI because it helps them better connect such individuals with the right resources and solutions. Nick was also able to demonstrate the Voice Control capabilities recently released in iOS 13 and connected the Alta Bates organization with super quads Ian McKay and Misty Marez who are happy to share their own experience and expertise using technology to control their power wheelchairs and much more.

Our friend, Steve Lau, who works at Alta Bates, was also able to join us as well. We’d like to thank Charlla Callan for pulling everyone together for this event and also taking the picture.
