NorCal SCI's Mobile Clinic to make its debut in Modesto April 6

Our recent visit to Modesto and meeting with members of the spinal cord injury community basically confirmed what we had already suspected: there is a lack of expertise of SCI medical professionals in that region, forcing such individuals to travel to Sacramento or Bay Area for their specialty care. And exactly for that reason, NorCal SCI is pleased to announce the April 6th SCI Mobile Clinic to be held at the Modesto offices of Disability Resource Agency for Independent Living (DRAIL).

There are a limited number of appointment slots available. To secure a free appointment, please complete our ONLINE APPOINTMENT APPLICATION.

This marks our second Mobile Clinic following the successful initial clinic we held in San Luis Obispo last fall. The idea is to allow an individual with SCI have a free consultation with medical professionals with specific expertise in SCI/D.

We will have a Nurse Practitioner, an Occupational Therapist and a Physical Therapist meet with each individual as part of a team of medical professionals. The Nurse Practitioner specializes in spasticity and is knowledgeable in skin care and bowel and bladder care while the OT and PT have between them many years of experience treating individuals specifically with SCI/D. Modesto Mobility Center will also be present to perform minor repairs to equipment including wheelchairs.

The clinic will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. DRAIL’s office in Modesto is located at 1101 Sylvan Ave., Suite A-25 (take elevator to the second floor of the building). We also want to strongly urge anyone who doesn’t want to take advantage of this program to still come over and meet the NorCal SCI team and learn about the various services & programs we offer. It’s also a great opportunity to meet fellow peers with SCI living in the region and forge new friendships.
