We continue to experience good fortune by attracting incredible talent and experience to join our cause and we couldn’t be happier by announcing that long-time CEO of the Valley Medical Center Foundation (VMCF), Chris Wilder, has agreed to join NorCal SCI’s Board of Directors. We consider this a feather in our cap as we’ve known Chris for a long time and he has been mentoring us as we continue to grow our organization.

“Just as good health doesn’t start in a hospital bed, healing doesn’t end when you leave one,” said Chris. “That’s why the work of NorCal SCI is so important, to strengthen the continuum of care and ensure ongoing support. I’m proud to serve on the Board of this excellent organization.”

For over 15 years, Chris has led the effort to raise funds for and awareness of Silicon Valley’s largest (and only public) medical center. During that time, the VMC Foundation has raised more than $70 million for the only hospital in Silicon Valley that serves anyone, regardless of ability to pay. He was named “Outstanding Professional Fund Raiser for 2008” by the Association of Fund Raising Professionals.

Also in 2008, Chris led a coalition that passed “Measure A”, a county-wide ballot initiative which raised $840 million to rebuild Valley Medical Center’s seismically outdated hospital buildings.

Another noteworthy tidbit about Chris is that he plays a mean bass guitar as part of the band, Legally Blue. They perform at various venues throughout the South Bay. He was also the emcee of our inaugural fundraising party last October, which blew away our wildest expectations with the money raised, and has already committed to doing that again this year.

Thank you for your friendship, guidance and mentoring, Chris. We look forward to learning a ton more from you.
