Long-time Nurse Practitioner, Rebecca Hummel-Moore, joins NorCal SCI's Advisory Board
For us, Forrest Gump said it best: “My momma always said, life was like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get.” We were most fortunate to have met Rebecca Hummel-Moore about a year ago and we are now even more fortunate to announce that Rebecca, a Nurse Practitioner at the Disabled Community Health Clinic and Spasticity Management Program at Herrick Hospital in Berkeley, has joined NorCal SCI’s Advisory Board.
We had a chance to spend a whole day with her this past September when we conducted our first-ever Mobile Clinic in San Luis Obispo where she volunteered to spend a day meeting with persons with SCI and advising them on various issues involving spasticity, skin management and bowel and bladder topics. She will be doing the same thing on Sat., April 6th at our Modesto Mobile Clinic event.
Rebecca has a certification in rehabilitation nursing and specializes in the management of severe spasticity of spinal or cerebral origin. She helps people with SCI/D to thrive by teaching them about their health and showing them adaptations, believing that health is a state of being where the highest and best self tends to the body, mind and spirit regularly, while listening and responding to the environment in which life is happening.
“I am pleased to join the Advisory Board of NorCal SCI after having been a clinical team member in its mobile clinic in San Luis Obispo,” said Rebecca. “NorCal SCI' s mission and activities, its founders and its other advisory board members individually and collectively, reflect and inspire my own passion for increasing health, function, longevity and fullness of experience for those living with SCI/D.”
Thank you, Rebecca. We’re so happy we’re aligned with your priorities in better serving the SCI community.
