Empower SCI launches comprehensive one week all-around training program in Montana

We recently became aware of this non-profit organization, Empower SCI, which will offer a week-long residential program from June 9-15 in Montana, catered to individuals who have had an injury to their spinal cord. The program focuses not only on the formal physical therapy, occupational therapy, and recreational therapy; but more importantly peer mentoring, rehabilitation counseling and informal knowledge-sharing between individuals who are going through similar experiences and challenges.

The program will consist of a combination of individual and group therapy sessions catered to the unique needs of the client. The three founders of Empower SCI are uniquely qualified and experienced in the spinal cord injury field and conduct a two-week program in New York as well.

The Montana program is being held on the campus of the University of Montana in Missoula. Accessible housing and PCAs and nurses are provided as part of the program. The application deadline is May 1st and the program cost is $1,500 which includes a full week’s program, housing, meals and more. There are a limited number of scholarships available to help offset some of the cost.

Please contact Carrie Callahan at ccallahan@empowersci.org for further details regarding this program..
