SUMMER OF 2019: taking advantage of accessible water-based activities in Northern California

Truly, living in Northern California spoils us, sometimes more than we’ll ever acknowledge and now that summer is officially here, if you really want to take advantage of accessible activities on the water, here are our top three organizations that have, for a long time, nailed the concept of offering some of the best accessible water-based programs anywhere and it’s not too late to check them out.

ACHIEVE TAHOE
Their summer program runs through late August and you can take advantage of water skiing, canoeing, kayaking, paddle boarding, Sea Doo riding and sailing.

ENVIRONMENTAL TRAVELING COMPANIONS (ETC)
For over 47 years, ETC has been a driving force behind making some of the most pristine and exciting water-based excursions for individuals with physical disabilities. They offer whitewater rafting and sea kayaking and many organized tours including overnight ones.

BAY AREA ASSOCIATION OF DISABLED SAILORS.(BAADS)

Volunteers assist sailors, provide safety using a chase boat, teach basic sailing skills and help assemble and disassemble boats.  Their boats launch out of San Francisco for the most part and they sail primarily on the weekends.

Many organizations offer scholarships to help the individual with limited/no cost to join in, so don’t be left out of the action this summer.
