Adaptive Winter activities to resume at China Peak Mountain Resort on Nov. 28
The folks at Central California Adaptive Sports Center (CCASC) are preparing to launch their Winter recreational programs, snow permitting, on Sat., Nov. 28th at their Adaptive Center, offering lessons for persons with disabilities of all skill levels and interests, including sit-skiing, stand-up skiing, ski-biking, snow-shoeing, cross-country skiing and mountaineering. Family members are encouraged and welcome to participate in all activities which will be held at the China Peak Mountain Resort in Lakeshore.
The Center will be open for reserved and drop-in lessons Friday through Monday as well as on Thursdays for advance reservations only. Although they are often able to accommodate drop-ins, advance reservations are strongly recommended. Through grant funding from the Department of Veteran's Affairs Adaptive Sports Program, CCASC is able to offer lessons to Veterans with disabilities at no charge. Discounted lift tickets and rentals are available for family members.
Some grants, discounts, and scholarships are also available to non-veterans: Through grant funding from the Craig H. Neilsen Foundation and Move United, CCASC is able to offer lessons to persons with spinal cord injuries and low income youth and young adults with disabilities ages 16-29 at no charge. Most of CCASC's winter activities are planned to last for a half-day or all day. Half-day programs run from 9:30 a.m. to Noon or 1-3:30 p.m. Full-day programs run from 9:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
