Nov. 19: Cooking with Arash takes on carbs & whole grains
He doesn’t have the fancy kitchen set many of TV celebrity chefs do but what he does have is a passion for cooking from his wheelchair and to share his recipes for healthy and nutritious easy-to-prep meals that someone with a spinal cord injury could adopt. We’re happy that the C5-6 incomplete wheelchair user, Arash Bayatmakou, will once again share his knowledge and experience working with whole grains: what they look like, how you buy and store them and how he uses them in his cooking. And it all happens on Thurs., Nov. 19th at 5 p.m. PST and you can register for it HERE.
In this lively and engaging session, you can also expect Arash to discuss the one, primary way of cooking and preparing pretty much any whole grain as well as a few of his favorite whole grains, why he likes them, versatility with different style of cooking, and of course, a couple of recipes that he’ll prepare during the session.
This free virtual presentation is part of “NorCal SCI Presents: Virtual is the New Reality Series”, funded through a grant from the Reeve Foundation. Once you register, you will immediately receive a confirmation e-mail from us which you should keep to access the virtual event.
Arash experienced his SCI in 2012 as a result of a fall. He has given numerous talks and shared his story of perseverance, recovery, and challenging limits to audiences large and small, including his TEDx talk. A Bay Area native, Arash credits his California upbringing for his love of the outdoors, nature, and cooking, activities he still cherishes as he continues to travel, explore and enjoy new experiences. He also serves on NorCal SCI’s Board of Directors.
