NorCal SCI/Permobil Foundation collaborate to award free SmartDrive to deserving person with SCI

NorCal SCI is grateful to the Permobil Foundation which, in recognition of our annual fundraiser event last month, made a generous donation of a free SmartDrive MX2+ to award to one lucky resident of Northern California living with a spinal cord injury and using a manual wheelchair. Pushing a manual wheelchair can put stress on shoulders and lead to serious issues in the future. The SmartDrive offers a range of controls and activity-tracking technology to deliver a seamless power assist experience that may reduce repetitive stress.

The SmartDrive MX2+ can power you up steep hills and through thick carpet and offers added flexibility, convenience and control options to empower an active lifestyle. It’s intuitive to use and will go for miles on a single charge.

We have developed a contest for those who wish to be considered for this SmartDrive. Deadline for submission is Sunday, Dec. 13th, 2020 and here are the requirements:

  • In no more than 250 words, tell us why you should be considered for this SmartDrive. How would this device make a significant difference in your life, why you are deserving of it and what would it enable you to do more of. Include two pictures of you in your manual wheelchair taken from different angles.

  • E-mail your written submission and pictures with the subject line of SmartDrive to info@norcalsci.org and include your:

    Full name
    Date of spinal cord injury
    Injury level
    Date of birth
    Your wheelchair’s maker and model
Home address (include city and zip code)
    Phone number

The winner will be announced on Tues., Jan. 5th, 2021 and their written submission and picture will be published on our website and other digital media channels.
