Travis Roy Foundation offers adaptive equipment grants for those with SCI
For over 23 years, our friends at the Travis Roy Foundation have been dedicated to enhancing the life of individuals with spinal cord injuries and their families by providing adaptive equipment and to finding a cure through increased funding of research, resulting in self-reliance and the ability to be as independent as possible. Travis was a promising 20-year-old hockey star when in 1995, moments into his first collegiate game as a Boston University freshman, a freak accident drove Travis into the boards resulting in a C4 injury.
The foundation offers Quality of Life grants to those with spinal cord injuries with a financial need to acquire adaptive equipment such as wheelchairs, computers, vehicle modifications (i.e., hand controls or lifts), small home modifications including ramp and lift installation, computers, and other adaptive equipment. Not eligible are recreational or sports equipment, including items such as FES bikes. Applicants must be U.S. residents and demonstrate financial need and may be required to provide documentation. The grants are for a maximum of $5,000.
