Weekly SCI Virtual Meetups in Northern California to launch April 9

The COVID-19 pandemic has isolated the SCI population significantly not only because of the shelter-in-place order but also due to the fear of being exposed to the virus that has a higher impact on someone with SCI. In comes the technology that can help us connect with each other and so, NorCal SCI is pleased to announce the launch of weekly Virtual Meetups starting Thurs., April 9th from 5-6:30 p.m. using Zoom Video Conferencing. The Virtual Meetups are open not only to those with SCI but also to their loved ones and caregivers.

We’re keeping the format fairly informal for now but the main goal is to visually see each other, share experiences, challenges and solutions. However, we’ll also include presenters across a variety of subject matters that would be of great interest to our population.

While COVID-19 is the motivation behind this initiative, our vision is to continue these virtual meetups indefinitely. The overwhelming majority of those with SCI are unable to attend in person local peer support meetings and so, this approach would now allow them access to their fellow peers all across Northern California.
