NorCal SCI to pilot Virtual SCI Consultation for those in under-served areas

We were all ready to make the trip to Modesto, the site of our second annual Mobile SCI Clinic, on Sat., March 21st but with just days to go and the realization that COVID-19 is turning into a pandemic, we had to make the difficult decision of cancelling the event we were looking forward to hosting. Well, the virus may have knocked us off our schedule but thanks to virtual meeting platforms such as Zoom, NorCal SCI is proud to announce the launch of our first-ever Virtual SCI Consultation on Sat., May 30th from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. that would allow anyone in an under-served area benefit from this program.

The virtual consultation will provide individuals with Spinal Cord Injuries the opportunity to have a free video consultation with medical professionals with specific expertise in SCI/D. It is intended for those who do not have reasonable access to an SCI medical professional primarily based on their location in Northern California.

On our consultation team, we have a Nurse Practitioner, an Occupational Therapist, a Dietitian and a Physical Therapist who specialize in Spinal Cord Injury medicine. The Nurse Practitioner specializes in spasticity and is knowledgeable in skin care and bowel and bladder care while the OT and PT have between them many decades of experience treating individuals specifically with SCI/D. The Dietitian works directly with the SCI community both in acute rehab and in the community.

You can apply for a consultation by completing our application HERE.

Appointments are limited and priority will be given to individuals who do not have reasonable access to SCI Medical Professionals based on their location.
