Berkeley's CIL awards additional $5,000 grant to support NorCal SCI's COVID-19 response program

Well, we don’t know how else to say it other than to thank Berkeley-based Center for Independent Living (CIL) for trusting us to make good use of an additional $5,000 grant they have awarded NorCal SCI (for a total of $10,000) to help support the Northern California community of those with spinal cord injuries during the current COVID-19 pandemic that, unfortunately, is showing very few signs of letting up. Accordingly, NorCal SCI will accelerate and expand the distribution of its COVID-19 Personal Safety Kit which will now include two 8 oz. bottles of isopropyl alcohol 80%, two boxes of 100-ct. nitrile gloves and 40 protective masks for those struggling to get their hands on these essential protective medical supplies.

The increase in distribution of these supplies reflects our belief that we all need to be vigilant and take maximum care by limiting our potential exposure to the virus. Though the SCI population is at no greater risk of contracting the virus than the rest of the population, those of us who contract it are at a greater health risk than most of the population because of our limited or compromised pulmonary functions. Hence, however we can keep ourselves clean and protected would help reduce those risks.

Past recipients are welcome to request a kit again. To request your NorCal SCI COVID-19 Personal Safety Kit, please send an e-mail to info@norcalsci.org with the following information:
