Berkeley-based Easy Does It expands emergency mobility device repair service

For over 20 years, Easy Does It, a service organization funded by taxpayers in the city of Berkeley, has been providing seniors and people with disabilities non-medical emergency services and other essential support. And now, the organization has launched a new program, FASTER (Fast Accessible Safe Transportation and Emergency Repair), which provides rescue rides and repairs for people whose wheelchair or scooter has broken down during a trip in Northern Alameda County (Albany, Oakland, Emeryville, Alameda, San Leandro, San Lorenzo, Hayward and Castro Valley).

This expansion is a newly-formed partnership with the Alameda County Transportation Committee and funded through Measure B. When you contact them with a mechanical problem with your mobility device, their dispatcher will connect you with a FASTER Technician who will attempt to troubleshoot the problem over the phone. If the issue cannot be resolved, the FASTER Technician will meet you at your location, attempt minor on-site repairs, and if still needed, get you home safely.

The FASTER service is available from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday at (510) 704-2111.
