BACKBONES, a non-profit that supports individuals with spinal cord injury/disorder, is hosting “Creating an Accessible Home”, a discussion on Thurs., May 13th at 4 p.m. PST featuring Julie Sawchuk, a best-selling author, professional speaker and designated Rick Hansen Foundation Accessibility Certification professional. Her presentation will center around creating accessible spaces that are both functional and beautiful. You may register for this free virtual event HERE.

Julie, who has a SCI, will chat about what she learned first hand as a wheelchair user and the knowledge she shares in her new book, “Build Your Space: How To Create An Accessible Home For You, Your Family and Your Future” which looks at ways to create wheelchair accessible accommodations. Her own home is the only showcase of Universal Design that demonstrates how accessibility is not just functional, but also beautiful.
