U2FP's CureCast podcast interview: behind the scenes of Mayo Clinic’s stem cell trials for SCI

The Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota is where you will find Neurosurgeon and researcher, Dr. Mohamad Bydon, when he treated Bay Area resident, Chris Barr, who experienced a cervical injury in 2017 as a result of a surfing accident, with the first-ever dose of Autologous Adipose Derived Mesenchymal Stem Cells. Chris went on to experience significant recovery and was widely profiled on several TV news shows, including a Good Morning America piece focused on 'super responder' patient one in the Phase 1 Clinical Trial using Adipose Derived Mesenchymal Stem Cells.

You can learn more about the study, how to go beyond the media hype and get an understanding of where Dr. Bydon sees this research going in this 46-minute podcast produced by Unite 2 Fight Paralysis, which you can listen to HERE.

Minneapolis-based Unite 2 Fight Paralysis is a non-profit organization devoted to empower the international spinal cord injury community to cure paralysis through advocacy, education, and support for research. Their CureCast podcasts are a series of interviews with research scientists, advocates and difference makers in the SCI community, conducted by Matthew Rodreick, Executive Director of U2FP and Jason Stoffer, Cure Advocacy Network Manager and host of CureCast.
