BORP celebrates 45 Years of programs with June 9 virtual event

Since it was founded in 1976, the Bay Area Outreach & Recreation Program (BORP) has been working to improve the health, independence and social integration of people with physical disabilities through sports, fitness and recreation programs. On Wed., June 9th at 6:30 p.m., they are celebrating their 45th anniversary by hosting a free virtual event to honor the amazing career of Jonathan Newman who recently retired after 30 years with BORP,, recognize the outstanding legacy of BORP power soccer coach, Chris Finn, who passed away in 2020, and present Garnett Silver-Hall with the Jennifer Howitt Award for Athletic Achievement, which recognizes individuals who have shown outstanding performance as BORP youth athletes.

This one-hour virtual event will be followed by an informal Zoom gathering in which participants can share experiences, talk about BORP's impact on their lives, and connect with other members of the BORP community. Free tickets must be obtained in advance HERE.
