Waymo’s WAV Expands in San Francisco

Autonomous driving company Waymo has invited the NorCal SCI community to participate in its rider testing program, called the Trusted Tester program, providing the opportunity to take free wheelchair accessible rides in San Francisco and share feedback. More details about Waymo’s partnership with NorCal SCI can be found here.

If you are interested in participating in the Trusted Tester program, download the Waymo One ride-hailing app and complete the application. Once you have completed this step please send an email to NorCal SCI (info@norcalsci.org) letting us know you have applied for the program and share the email address you used on the application form.

Waymo’s WAV service includes:

  • Drivers who can offer assistance to riders

  • Riders can bring up to 2 guests on a ride

  • Riders can schedule multiple stops for a trip

  • This service is currently free and operating throughout San Francisco

Waymo has long been turning to rider feedback to shape and evolve its rideshare service. Insights from the NorCal SCI community will help Waymo consider a variety of mobility needs as it continues to iterate and evolve its rideshare app, service, and technology.
